What can you expect when visiting Homestead Church?

Welcome!

At Homestead, we want to be a church for the whole family and a place where people of all ages can connect, grow, and have fun! Everything we do is done with the hope of building community and growing faith. We like to stay engaged through weekly worship, Wednesday WASH, and small groups. Homestead has a long history in the city of Rochester, but we're new to the NW side of town. We currently rent space, but own land near Gibbs Elementary, with dreams to build in the future.

Getting Here

You'll find us at: 6301 Bandel Road NW, Suite 503, Rochester MN. Currently we rent space within the Bandel Heights Business Center, also home to our local television station KTTC. Coming into the parking lot, make your way to the back of the building. Dress is casual and guests are never singled out. We celebrate Communion each Sunday. We include & welcome children in worship. Everyone is invited to participate, whether you are a member of Homestead, another church, or have never been to church.

Worship

Weekly #OneHomestead Worship gathers at 10a. Our worship incorporates many traditions of church you may be familiar with if you've grown up in church, including prayers, communion, and familiar hymns. But we also mix these elements with a relaxed & child-friendly atmosphere and current worship songs. We are fortunate to have both an excellent pianist and worship band to lead us in our singing.

Children in Worship

Our worship is intergenerational. Young children and adults worship and lead next to each other. We believe children are an essential part of our faith community. We encourage families to worship as is most comfortable and meaningful for their family. While we encourage families to worship together, we also offer a staffed nursery space for infants/children and have Sunday School available during the sermon for our prek-grade 4 crew. Additionally, we have a Parent/Baby room for those moments when you'd prefer a little extra quiet space. We are an accessible space with no steps and offer a van ministry to help those who do not drive attend worship. This room is designed with you in mind! It includes a rocking chair, changing table, and soft, baby toys. Plus, audio of the service is streamed in! Please note, we encourage you to feed & care for your baby wherever is most comfortable for you; this room is merely one option. You are always welcome to stay in the worship area or lounge on the couches in the gathering space, too! We even have a kid space in the sanctuary!

For kids in grades 5-8, we offer a Middle School Youth Group, which meets every other week after the second service.

Communion + Kids

Homestead practices an open table. ALL who desire to receive God’s grace are welcome. No matter what. Kids, too!  In fact, most every week, kids help serve communion, too! If you have questions, please talk to one of our Pastors.

Rev Luke & Rev Bethany Nelson, Pastors

Pastor Luke and Pastor Bethany were appointed to Homestead Church in 2015. Together, they bring a passion serving Christ in the church, community and world. They bring a breadth of experience in preaching, worship leadership, and a passion for the young and young-at-heart. Together, Pastor Bethany and Pastor Luke live in NW Rochester with their two sons. When not at church, you're most likely to find them at a park, coffee shop or gym.
